FALL 2007
(2-19-08)
SB Players fair well at Queen Mary
Although the participation from Santa
Barbara players was much smaller at this years Queen Mary there were
some good results. Unfortunately only Gary Bixler and myself (Phil
O'Neill) made the trip down this year. Bill Neal and Randy made the trip
from Ventura. As usual, the tournament was great and we all heard enough
bagpipes to last us another year!
Gary Bixler ended up placing top 16 in the singles 501 and Phil O'Neill
ended up getting a top 8. Phil paired up with Tony Wolfe in the Doubles
Chicago and almost had a chance to make the finals but both ended up
missing crucial shots in the Semi Finals. We finished with a top 4 in
that event and were beat by Sean Downs and Fred Aguerro. A couple of
T80's and 9 marks on the day added to an otherwise good and profitable
day. Next year hopefully more of our players from SB will make the trip
down!

SB ALL STARS WIN AGAIN
Santa Barbara was once again victorious
in the bi annual All Star event against Ventura yesterday. The last time
we met was the first time ever that the match ended up going all the way
down to the team 2001 game to decide who was going to keep the trophy.
This time looked like it may be the same! Hats off to Ed Farr and Kevin
Kennedy for playing well all day long to help in making sure Santa
Barbara won our match. I can say that I played probably my very worst
and I think some of the others on our team were struggling as well. I
was actually shocked we somehow pulled it off yesterday! But as usual,
the Ventura team played very well and all of the guys were gracious in
the loss. Next time hopefully we all bring our game and put it away much
earlier! A special thank you to Linda of the James Joyce for keeping our
pints flowing.

New Thursday Night Blind Draws
We have a new night of Blind Draw Doubles
now at Alisal Cellars in Solvang. This will also be a new venue for
darts this next season. The Alisal Cellars have greeted us with open
arms and are excited about building the place as the new dart venue in
the valley. They have a "Mug Club" available as well which is a GREAT
deal if you will be frequenting the place often. Lots of great beers on
tap and lots of great wine. Temporarily we have the stand ups set up but
they plan on setting up an entire pool and dart room in the coming
months. It's a really cool hang out so stop in and have a beer and throw
some darts!

Terribles Repeat Cup Win
The Terribles repeated by winning The Cup
for a second season in a row. It was not a blow out however as the
Dubliners hung on tight to make it very close. The Terribles jumped out
to a 5-1 lead but then fell apart for the next few games letting them
back into the match. Al and Kevin ended up locking up the match with the
win in the doubles 501 to secure the "new" Cup.
Thanks to David Moitis for making up the
new base for the trophy. Andy will be making up the name plates and we
will be getting a larger CUP to go on top!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and
you all enjoyed a fun season of darts. We now will begin the playoffs
for "The Cup" which in actuality is non existent!! We need to have a new
Cup made so we will try and work on that in the coming weeks. We may
actually have something for the winning team to hold instead of last
years athletic supporter!
The schedule for the playoffs is posted
on the final Bull but I will also post it here. This was done totally
randomly so some of you teams that did not win 1st or second may have a
very good chance to win the Cup!! The 1st and 2nd place teams play each
other the 2nd week so one of them will be knocked out!

Only 3 weeks left
Well this short season is flying by and
we only have 3 weeks left of regular season play. We will be having a
playoff for the Cup but that will not begin until after the New Year due
to Holidays. That will give some teams a chance to revamp their teams
for the next season which will begin at the beginning of February.
We will be having the All Star shoot
against Ventura again on or around the end of January. The top 10 MVP
points getters will be invited to shoot and this time the event will be
on our home court! So time to point whore!!! (kidding). But be ready for
a phone call or e-mail asking you to play if you are one of the top
shooters. There is also talk of an invite only shoot in Ventura for top
players for some big money. More on that when it becomes available.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
Let's make these last few nights of darts a blast! If I have not gotten
your team photo done yet, plan on seeing me this Tuesday. I will have
camera in hand and I will be down town.
(11-15-07)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving
week. If you are so inclined, the San Diego Open is this weekend. Go to
TOURNEYS to see the flyer. I'll be there so I hope to see some of you.
Otherwise, keep on practicing!
(11-3-07)
Thanksgiving week we will have a BYE!
Oops! I kinds screwed up when I made the
schedule this season in that I did not include a BYE week for everyone
for the week of Thanksgiving. Usually we always have a BYE to allow
people that need to travel that week to not miss a match or cause extra
delayed matches.
So as to not make the whole schedule
extra confusing we will just push the matches scheduled for Nov 20th to
the new final night of league Dec 18th! Please see the revised schedule.
Sorry for any confusion but hopefully
this helps those who will need to travel that week.
(11-2-07)
PLEASE PAY DUES
Team dues were due the first night of
league. If your team has not paid them yet, please get them to Andy
Clare as soon as possible. $140 per team.
Thank you!

1 Night Down
We're off to the races! League finally
commenced this past Tuesday and it seems things went smoothly with all
of the teams making it to their respective venues. And I even received
all of the scoresheets!!
Next week we have our first match
happening at the Garage Team location. Make sure if your team is playing
there that you get the directions to their place off this website.
The decision was made by the board that
for this season since we have 3 new teams that we are going to keep it
as one division. If at the end of this season we want to put to vote to
divide the league into 2 divisions we can address it then.
ADO Cricket shoot this Sunday!!! Come on
down for some practice

LEAGUE FINALLY STARTING!
We thought we would be starting 2 weeks
ago but we really wanted to try and get some new teams in. I'm happy to
report we have 10 teams again this season (2 more than last season) and
we will begin play next Tuesday the 16th. The schedule has been posted
on the website.
Some things to note. First off we have a
new team called the Garage Team. The reason they are called the Garage
Team??? Well they will be playing out of their garage! We had a team a
number of years ago that did this and most people really enjoyed it.
Hopefully their set up everyone enjoys. You will be able to bring your
beverage of choice saving you lots of $$$. They have a fridge in the
garage and 2 boards. I have posted a link to a map to get to their
house. They are located right at the bottom of Hwy 154 here in SB.
We also have a new team playing out of
Dargan's again. Dargan's has opted to allow us back in so hopefully this
will continue for future seasons to allow us to add even more teams.
That's about it for now. Your packages
will be at the Pubs for you on Tuesday night. Please remember to bring a
check for $140 on the first night of play if you are playing downtown.
Andy will be playing at the Joyce so make sure to stop by and drop off
your teams check.
Have a fun short season! Stay tuned for
more info...
