Ventura wins All Star for first time

A big congrats goes out to the team in Ventura for their first win in the bi annual All Star event held at Dargan's this past Saturday. Ventura played very well that day and ended up winning the match 12-10. I will say that our top players did not play to their usual form which ended up leading to some loses that shouldn't have occurred. But that's darts. Anyone can win at any time. I know for certain we will be looking forward to the rematch. Hopefully we will have it right after the end of this next season (probably in June).

The teams line up for the day was:

Ventura - Danny Buckley ,Randy Wheeler ,Gary Gunn ,Johnny O'toole , Bryan Gosser , Rey Pinlac ,, Ray Alexander , Dave Allen , Iso Losano, Walt Johnson

Santa Barbara was - Mick Farrell, Phil O'Neill, Erik Schiefen, Armando Adlawan, Isaac Oltmans, John Craig, Al Benevente, Gary Bruan, Kevin Quinn and Chris Schiefen

The match started with 2 - 5 0n 5 team games of 1001. The first game saw Johnny O'Toole of Ventura hit a T80 to help vault the team into a big lead. Ventura worked their way down to "X" while SB was still sitting at near 200. Ventura proceeded to bust the "X" and SB soon was at "X" as well. Then both teams missed the shot at double bull multiple times but eventually Ventura hit it.

Then came the 2nd game of 1001. Almost the exact opposite happened as SB was at double 2 while Ventura was sitting at over 200. But then SB continued to bust throwing over 20 darts at the out and let Ventura back in to hit their out.

Starting the singles matches SB won the first 4 of 5 giving us a 5-3 lead. But then we lost 4 of 5 of the next to make the match 7-5 Ventura. Doubles cricket

Season over...new season begins Jan 17th

We made it to the end of another season. Although it was plagued by teams having forfeits and teams not having all of their members there for all of the matches causing things to end up lopsided in the standings, at least we made it through. We lost Cooney's bar only a few weeks into the season yet somehow managed to get in all of the matches needed.

This next season will begin on Jan 17th. Not only do we need to get all of you to have committed teams and teammates, we need to get some new venues to play out of. Liam has talked about only hosting 4 teams. That would require 3 teams to find a new home in addition to the Cooneys teams. We are trying to get Deano's Pizza going again. There is also talk of the Mercury Lounge in Goleta to replace Breaktime.

Anyway, if anyone has other ideas or can help us in securing a place it would be greatly appreciated.

DON'T FORGET, come on down to the Santa Barbara vs Ventura All Star event at Dargan's on Saturday January 14th.

See you all there.

Final Night!

Well, this week is the final night of league for this season. As voted on at the picnic, there will be no Cup playoff this season so we will all have a nice holiday and come back ready for a fresh new season after the New Year. It's going to be a fun final night for the A League as things could go a few different ways depending on the outcome of this final night. Good Luck to everyone.

If you have a new team we want to have play for next season or a new venue, please let Mike Lynch know asap.

Website is Finally up!

After a couple of weeks not having our site up, I finally have fixed the problems. I have posted the last couple of weeks bull's so now everything is up to date!

Santa Barbara vs. Ventura All Stars

I have finally arranged to get Ventura to put together a team of All Stars so we can once again resume our All Star matches against them. Since the inception of the All Star trophy, only Santa Barbara's name is on the cup! And we plan to keep it that way!

The line up will be made from the top 7 "A" Division players and the top 2 "B" Division players in MVP rankings at season end. We will also ask a few other next in line as we will need some subs. If you are not one of these players we still would like as many people as possible from our league there for support and helping chalk. This is a fun event every time we do this.

Saturday, January 14th
12 noon
Dargan's Irish Pub

The format for the match will be:

2 - 5 man team 1001
10 - Singles Corkers Choice
5 - Doubles Cricket
5 - Doubles 501
If tie of 11-11, tie breaker with one game team 2001

The Desperation on Venues

Well, we really need to get everyone's help in getting some new venues set up before next season. Breaktime is completely unbearable as we have to move kegs, move tables, move dartboards...and all of that just to play in a closet with no room to move or to score. Cooney's is done. So we need to get 2 new places and quick. If anyone has any suggestions and would like to help get these new places set up, we would greatly appreciate it. Deano's is top on the priority list.

Thanks

Cooney's Amiss

Last week we had 2 teams unable to play their match due to a scheduling conflict with a band at Cooney's. (It was Luis' band by the way!!)
Anyway, due to Cooney's non committal stance on having darts there, we are currently looking for a new venue. If anyone has suggestions or connections with another place in town that would make the commitment to put up dart boards and good lights, it would be great. Any suggestions, please bring them to Mike Lynch.

Missing Scoresheets

Once again there is a problem with teams managing to get scoresheets in on time so once again, this weeks bull is missing 4 teams scores. All I can do is post the fax number and give you my phone number. I'm not going to call teams because let's face it, you all have been playing long enough in this league to know that scoresheets should be faxed in the following morning after a match. It is the HOME team's responsibility. But if you have a fax and can take care of it for them, offer to do so. This way you don't miss all of your points.

If I do not have scores in by Thursday following the match, they will not be included. I do the Bull first thing Friday mornings.

Thanks for your cooperation

T80 Mugs

For those of you who have not turned in your T80 mugs to have them re-engraved from last years awards, now is your last chance! Andy has been waiting for everyone to turn them in so that he could do one set up for all of them. You have ONE last chance by bringing in your Mugs tomorrow night and give them to Andy. Otherwise he is going to do the few that were turned in and all other will have to wait another year to have them done.

(10-24-05)

I'm still trying to get all of the team pictures done for this year but still having difficulty in getting teams shot. I know sometimes not everyone is there so I'm trying to be patient and bring my camera each week. Hopefully this week I can get the final shots for the teams not taken yet.

(10-15-05)

Score Sheets

There has been some difficulty with teams getting their score sheets turned in on time. Just a reminder that ALL score sheets need to be faxed to 688-5014 or e-mailed to scoresheet@sbdarts.org NO LATER than THURSDAY after a match. That gives you 2 days to get it to me. If I do not receive it by Thursday night I will not include the scores on the Bullshooter. I have many other things to do and can't just sit around waiting until the day before the next match to get things done.

So please, your cooperation is greatly appreciated. The sooner you can get me the score sheets the better.

Thanks

OK, OK. Confusion abound! Last week we has people reminding us that the vote at the last picnic was for all teams to play 13 games regardless of whether it is B vs B. So, that's the way it is! Play all 13 games. If we end up seeing that when a B plays B the games go until 12 or 1am, then maybe the vote will go back to the way we had it? It's only a season so no worries.

There is only one B vs B last week that did not play all 13 so they will make up those 4 games the next time they meet (Firkin vs Lynch Mob)

And as for team pictures, no one was ready this week. So we'll try again next week

That is all.

(9-20-05)

One week under our belts. Ahhhhh. Feels like normal again.

Hey, a quick reminder for everyone. First off, if your a B team playing another B team, make sure to use the right scoresheet. I'd hate to see you guys play 301 for nothing like happened last week.

Also, remember we voted at the picnic to have an extra point for any on higher than a 95. I have been correcting scoresheets as they come in when I see missed points.

Get ready to smile. I'm bringing the camera for team pictures tonight!

(9-12-05)

Welcome back everyone! I hope everyone had a great summer and are ready to blow the dust off of those darts that have been sitting in a box for 3 months. Well, I do know some of us have been playing as the Tuesday Night Blind Draws at Dargan's throughout the summer had a very good turn out. Some nights as many as 20 people!

Lots of changes that some of you are aware of and some of you, well, you missed the BBQ and haven't been around so I'll clue you in.

First off, Rob Washburn's run as President of our league was very short lived. No, there wasn't recall!! Rob just decided he has some other things he needs to attend to so Mike Lynch has stepped up and taken over the President's seat. If you have a bitch or complaint, go to Mike. Erik will be playing darts and if you come to him with a question he will be happy to tell you he has nothing to do with it.

The schedule for this fall is different. There is NO Cup playoff (as voted on at the picnic). Therefore we have more games! Take a look at the Schedule at the top.

Well, that's it for now. Show up tomorrow night at your venue and get ready for some darts!

See you all there
