Schiefen wins 2/2

A huge congrats goes out to Erik Schiefen for grabbing the top spot in the ADO Section 2/2. Erik managed to get first place in our section by attending all of the ADO Regionals as well as placing in a couple of tournaments throughout this year. Due to the great attendance by lots of our SBDA members at all of the Regionals this year we ended up having 5 members total finishing in the top 10 for the region. Here are the year end results:

1 Erik Schiefen 2-2 SBRB 158
2 Sean Downs 2-2 TDS 138
3 Joey Burt 2-2 VENT 136
4 J.D. Newman 2-2 GSDDA 132

7 John Craig 2-2 SBAY 104

Team Pictures needed!

Once again we are down the to last night of league and I haven't gotten any team pics yet. Please use your Iphones or whatever you have to snap a picture of your team and e-mail it to me so I can post it to the site. Hard for me to get pictures of everyone like I used to when I'm not down in SB every week!

Playoff schedule has been posted to this weeks Bull and will begin next week.

Success for SB at Seaside

Today the Seaside Games in Ventura wrapped up and it was nice to see all of the SB players who made the trip down to support it. I was surprised that certain people from SB didn't make it but still a pretty good showing. Of the SB darters who went there was Jeff Hewes, Tom Crawford, Erik Schiefen, Mark Ellenberger, Shane Hoefer, John Craig, Isaac Oltmans, Rana Ajrawat, and myself (Phil O'Neill).

And we had some good results for our players! Erik Schiefen ended up winning the two Blind Draw events each day. Erik and Clem Watts from Ventura won the first day and then Erik won again today with Jess, beating Charles Bradish and a woman named Julia. And today Charles Bradish and myself went on to win the Open Doubles 501 beating John Denich and Brett "Bigfoot" Marrett.

Overall a great weekend with a wee bit too much drinking! LOL

This is a really fun shoot and Ventura needs everyone's support. Please come down for as many days as you can. There is a Friday night Blind Draw at the Benchwarmer. Then a full tourney Saturday and Sunday. There is RV parking right outside the dart hall for $50 for the entire weekend and there are hotels within walking distance. Fall League begins

Welcome back everyone,

Here’s the info for this season:

We have changed the format for this season. We will play a seeded Corkers Choice to begin the night and the Singles 301 after Doubles Cricket.  We also changed the MVP point structure to match Ventura’s so we can compare the leagues.  We have an All Star match vs. Ventura on November 13th here in SB and the MVP points will be used to determine our 10 players.  They kicked our butt last time so let’s return the favor!

We have 9 teams this season with some exciting new venues: Mel’s, Phil’s house and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.  Let’s make sure to extend our warmest welcomes to the venues.  With 9 teams we will each have a Bye during the season.  If there is a need for subs, any regular member of a team can not sub for another team.  Call your friends or family to give you a hand.  This is an excellent way to get new members.

Remember, dues were due before you read this so pay up!  This is always the most difficult part of running a league.  There are many expenses that we need to pay for throughout the season and it is very difficult to try to collect all season long.  Dues are $140 per team with unlimited subs. Checks payable to Santa Barbara Dart Association or SBDA.  Please give dues to Andy Clare.  We are all playing Downtown the first week (except the Garage Team and Dargan’s) so it should be very convenient to get done.

We will have new dartboards for each venue soon.  They were backordered and I am expecting them any day.

The ADO qualifiers are moving along with 4 players already advancing to San Diego in November.  Look for flyers for upcoming qualifiers.  They will be held on Saturdays or Sundays in the upcoming weeks.

Don’t forget the Gold Coast Shootout in Ventura on October 9-10.  We all should be there!  Check our website for more info.  Sbdarts.org

                                                                   That’s it for now.

                                                                   See you on the oche,

                                                                                       Erik
