Fall Season to begin Oct 2nd
For those people who are considering
putting a team together for this next season, time is running out. We
need to get a firm commitment from everyone on the teams who will be
playing so we can make up the schedule. Please e-mail Phil ASAP

BBQ Awards
Well we had our annual BBQ and awards
banquet yesterday at The James Joyce and a fun time was had by all who
attended. A special thank you to Tommy and Anna Marie for allowing us to
have our event at the Pub. We actually had a private party! Following
our brief annual meeting we saw no changes in the current board members
or really anything else for that matter. A big push is on to get new
teams for this next season and that is the main thing we discussed.
Following the meeting we had some delicious BBQ courtesy of Isaac who
manned the Q. We then proceeded with our Blind Draw tourney where we saw
2 MVP's team up and end up winning the whole thing. Gary Bixler and Ed
Farr took first place (big surprise)!
Armando Adlawan was awarded the Andy
Clare Sportsmanship award. Much deserved!!!
If you would like to see some photos from
the days event click on photos and 2007 BBQ to view.
First day of next season is still to be
determined. In the mean time, keep practicing and go to the Blind Draw
event's on Tuesday at the Joyce and Monday's at the Maverick!

Phil O'Neill qualifies for U.S. Nationals
This past weekend Phil O'Neill qualified
for the U.S. Nationals in Anaheim California. Phil will be moving on the
the U.S. Nationals for a chance to make it on the U.S. Team on the
weekend of Sept 28th-30th in Denver Colorado. Sponsorships are needed to
help defray some of the costs for Phil. Any help from local businesses
or individuals to help Phil in his quest for a shot on the U.S. National
team would be greatly appreciated.
Checks can be made payable to SBDA with
"Phil O'Neill Nationals" in the memo line

Terribles win THE CUP
The Terribles went completely undefeated
for the entire season when they beat the Dubliners in the finals for the
Cup. Since there is no sign of the coveted trophy and no one knows where
it is, we had to improvise. Below is a picture of the Terribles posing
with the new trophy!

Spring 2007 Wrap Up
Another season has come and gone. Given
that we only had 8 teams playing I still think we had a good group of
players this year. Hopefully everyone will return again next season and
we can get another 4 teams added as well.
Congratulations to Gary Bixler for winning the MVP this season. Gary had
a big fight against Ed Farr all season long. Gary had the advantage in
that Ed had the bye on the final night so he know exactly how many
points he needed. Regardless both he and Ed played great all season and
it's hard to see just one guy win it.
Also congratulations to The Terribles for an undefeated season and to
the Dubliners for a hard fought battle to take 2nd place.
Now the winning isn't over yet!!! We still have the Cup. Playoffs will
begin next Tuesday (playoff schedule is below). And even after that
don't forget that all summer long there will be blind draw doubles every
Tuesday night at the James Joyce.
The BBQ and awards picnic will be
announced very soon. We are trying to decide on a venue. Please stay
tuned for that. A tentative date is Saturday, Aug 4th. More to come.

PLAYOFF SCHEDULE
The schedule for the playoffs was
completed this last week by Isaac and myself with a blind draw. Since we
have an even number of teams this season there will be NO byes and we
will complete the playoffs in 3 weeks total. We will take the week of
July 4th off and begin playoffs on Tuesday, July 10th. As always we try
to make the playoffs on neutral ground for each match but that was
impossible to do with so few venues. Also with the James Joyce being so
good to us throughout the season we opted to have most matches played
there. It was also unavoidable to not have a match at the Maverick and a
coin was tossed to determine who played there. Below is the schedule:
Week #1 - July 10th, 7PM
Match #1 - Blouses vs Terribles @ Maverick
Match #2 - Mavericks vs Dickweeds @ James Joyce 2
Match #3 - Dubliners vs Your Mom @ Whiskey Dicks
Match #4 - Common Oars vs. Coprolites @ James Joyce 1
Week #2 - July 17th, 7PM
Winner of match #1 vs Winner of Match #4 @ Joyce 2
Winner of Match #2 vs Winner of Match #3 @ Joyce 1
FINALS - July 24th
at The James Joyce
Blind Draw doubles matches will happen
throughout the summer at the James Joyce!
(6-15-07)
2 Weeks until Playoffs
We are on the home stretch for this
season with only 2 weeks of play left. These last two weeks are all for
pride in getting your team as high in the rankings as possible as first
and second place have already been determined. But don't despair! We
still have the Cup and ANY team can win that! Because we have an even
number of teams this season we will NOT be having any BYES for the
Playoffs. Teams will be drawn at random to determine who plays who. All
Payoffs will be played in SB unless two teams from the Maverick have to
play each other.
The draw will take place next week and I
will have the playoff schedule posted to the website very soon
thereafter. So keep on practicing...The Cup could be yours!
(6-3-07)
One week left for make up's
For any teams that have a make up
match to do, you have until next week. The deadline for all make up
matches is Friday June 8th. Any matches not completed by then will be
considered loses. There are also no make up matches for any matches
occurring during the last 2 weeks of play.
Play off for the Cup will begin the
week of July 3rd. No Byes.

Dennis Priestley Exhibition
Once again our friend Dennis Priestley
will be in our neck of the woods offering up an exhibition. However for
the first time in 5 years the SBDA will not be a part of it. Due to the
lack of participation and support from our league members last year and
the amount of money Dennis needs to hold one of these events, we will
not be involved. There is still a chance for you to have a chance to
play him while he is in town. The Ventura Dart league will again be
holding an exhibition. From what I heard they did an AMAZING job last
year putting on the event. They were able to gather a lot of sponsors
and had lots of league members not only help in running the event but
also a huge turn out in support.
They are charging $30 each and only
have 5 open spots available at the door the evening of the event. The
only other way to get a chance to play him is to play in a Blind Draw
tourney at the Benchwarmer on June 23rd and win the event! Kinda shitty
that it's so expensive and there isn't a chance for other people to play
but oh well, it's their event. More info can be found at
http://vcda.org/Priestley-exhibition.html

US Open
Today was the first day of the US Open
in Connecticut. Don't get me started on how mad I am that they only
showed about 30 minutes of live darts here in the US today! Hopefully
you got to see it though because it was some of the best dart playing I
have seen by Americans in quiet a while. The match between Ray Carver
and Brad Wethington was superb! Ray and Brad are always solid players
but Ray showed why he is one of the best in the US today. It was a match
of first to 3 sets with each set consisting on best 2 out of 3. Ray won
3-1 and threw 5 T80's in the match along with 6 T40's and at least 15
T+. I think he averaged just about exactly 100 points per turn.
I don't think they will be showing any
of the rest of the matches live this weekend here in the states however
if you catch a plane quickly you might make it to England by tomorrow to
see the finals live on TV there.
To follow the action to go
http://www.planetdarts.tv/page/WorldSeriesDartsDetail/0,,10180~1027664,00.html
Currently only one American is still
in it for tomorrows final rounds. They are down to the final 16 and Jim
Widmayer is still in it! Jim took out Colin Lloyd in the first round!
Huge win and had to help his confidence throughout the day today. Other
notable matches were Chris White of the Bay Area finished in the top 32
along with Ray Carver who unfortunately lost in the top 32 to our friend
Dennis Priestley.
Stay tuned for more

ADO Qualifier cancelled
Due to a lack of response from fellow
players I will not be holding a ADO Qualifier. If you are interested in
going to the Regional it will be held in Anaheim at the Dolphin Lounge
on Saturday May 19th. E-mail me if you want details.
(4-28-07)
ADO Regional Qualifier changes
I have sent out an e-mail to everyone
regarding the upcoming Regional Qualifier. I still have only heard from
2 people regarding plying the event. I need 10 solid commitments from
people to play or I will not hold the event. The event would be held
next Weds May 2nd at 7PM sharp. If I do not hear from people by Tuesday
I will not hold the event. Please get in touch with me asap. Thank you.
(4-19-06)
ADO Regional Qualifier
We are once again planning an ADO
Regional Qualifier. However this time I will ONLY hold the event if I
get 10 full commitments from people that they are going to play. I will
be sending an e-mail out regarding this to those players I think may
want to play. The event will be on Saturday May 5th at 12 Noon at the
James Joyce. Expect an e-mail or if you want to e-mail me now and tell
me you want to play, please do so. Those people who tell me they are
playing I will be pre-charging the $10 entry fee. If you tell me you
want to play and then don't show up I will still expect the $10 entry
fee. We (I) can NOT continue to hold these events without a commitment
from the league. I wasted an entire day last time because only Mick from
Ventura showed up. So e-mail me and tell me you want to play!!!

Jim Coon Jr. killed in Iraq
It is with great sadness for me to inform
you of the passing of one of our fellow darters. Jim Coon Jr. was an
outstanding player out of the Bay Area. He was killed in Iraq 11 days
ago when an ied exploded near his vehicle. Jim Coon Sr. is also a very
well known player on the circuit and both he and Jr. won many
tournaments over the years. Jim Jr. was the National Youth Champion when
he was 17 years old and represented the U.S. in England at the World
Tournament.
More on this sad story can be seen at

6 Weeks and cruisin'
6 weeks into a long season and things
seem to be going smooth. The new venue at Whiskey Dick's (formerly the
Green Room) on State St is a VERY nice set up and most teams haven't
minded the drive up to Santa Ynez once every couple of months. Things
are tight in the league but everyone needs to remember all of the BYES
that are out there for all of the teams. Don't get too comfortable
thinking your team is doing great. One BYE week and you may slip back
down again. Or one BYE week for another team and you may slip right on
past them!
(3-19-07)
Team Dues
Hey guys, team dues NEED to be
collected. If you have not turned in your checks yet, please make sure
to get them to Andy Clare this week. It is $140 per team and it's always
easiest if you have one member from your team write one check for thee
whole team. Thank you!
(3-9-07)
Carp Team bows out
Well that was fun while it lasted! The
new Carp team never played a game and they are already out. Definitely a
bummer but because it took so long for us to get going they had some
members drop out and play pool league instead. Oh well. Saves you all
from having to drive to Carp but it also means we have a TON of Byes
this season. Nothing I can do it about now. Hopefully we can get them in
next season. Just remember that when you see you are playing them on the
schedule it means you have a BYE.
(3-4-07)
Week #1 Complete
After all of the delays in getting the
season going we finally have week #1 under our belts. There was one
postponement with the new team out of Carp but we did manage to get the
other matches completed. The Bull has been posted for everyone to see.
Click "BULL" (double 18) to see all of the stats.
Teams still need to remember to bring
their check for $140 this week if they haven't already. Give it to Andy
Clare. He will be at The Joyce.
Also, Isaac neglected to print out
schedules for everyone in their packets. Make sure to print one out for
yourself off the website. The printable version is at the bottom of the
schedule page.
Have fun and keep em in the trebles!

League FINALLY beginning
After so many changes and uncertanties we
are FINALLY going to get the league started. We lost 4 teams this season
but we also gained 3 new ones. The big shocker is we lost Dargan's as a
venue!!! That really screwed things up. I guess they feel that we don't
do enough for them business wise. I tend to disagree and think we as a
league have bent over backwards to make things work there. No big deal.
We have a new venue that will be ready in about another week at The
Green Room on lower State St.. We also have a new team out of
Carpinteria at Carpinteria Family Billiards! So this season should be
some good new vibes at these new venues.
League play will begin this Tuesday. Take
a look at the schedule. We will also have packets for everyone the first
night of play. This season we will play every team twice. every team has
2 Byes during the season. And we will just have one division since there
are only 9 teams.
Make sure to have a check for $140 for
your team made payable to SBDA on the first night of play! Hand it to
Andy. He will be at the Joyce hanging out. Their team has the first week
BYE.
OK, good luck to everyone. Have fun.
(2-12-07)
ADO Regional
Once again it's time for another ADO
Regional Event. The Regional for everyone in Southern California will be
held in Santa Barbara on Saturday March 3rd at 12 Noon at Dargan's. You have a
chance to qualify for this event at the Regional Qualifier the weekend
prior on Saturday February 24th at the James Joyce. This event will be
at 12 noon as well. Only $10 for a chance to move on the the Regional
event the following weekend. The format is all 501, Round Robin. Lots of
darts!!!
So come on down for a chance to qualify and play the best players in
Southern California.

The match began with the team games of 1001. SB moved out into the lead

took the second game leveling up the match at 1-1. Moving into the

Wheeler Andy did hit the only 180 of the day. In the Doubles Cricket

needing 2 out of 5 in the doubles 501 to secure the match. SB took 4 of
the remaining 5 games to seal up yet another win.

ALL STARS vs VENTURA
This Saturday, February 10th, we will
hold our bi annual All Star shoot against Ventura. This time it will be
held at Dargan's which allows all of our members a chance to come down
and watch and root on your team. The event will begin at 12 noon sharp.
Although we have some of our top players unavailable for the event we
have put together a very strong team for this event and we should be
able to keep the trophy in it's home it knows and loves.
So come on down this Saturday and check
out the action!

League to start February 20th
We will be starting up the spring 2007
league on Tuesday February 20th. Unfortunately we have lost 4 teams from
last season and we have been trying to get the new teams together and
ensure we have a decent league to play before we start. The schedule
should be ready in the next week and we will e-mail out all of the
information once it is available.
So start your practicing again!
